Calling all shutterbugs

THE Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) is calling all Malaysians, including students, to learn about integrity by capturing images that, among other things, portray elements of righteousness, efficiency and good governance.
Its president, Datuk Dr Mohd Tap Salleh, said the institute would especially like to see the participation of secondary school students in the Integrity Photography Contest, which ends on June 30.
“It will be good if participants, especially students, have a proper understanding of the National Integrity Plan before embarking on their photo-taking sprees as it will certainly enhance their chances of winning the contest,” Dr Mohd Tap said.
The contest, launched last May, requires contestants to capture images based on five themes in line with the five priority targets underlined by the plan, also known as Target 2008.
The five themes concern tackling and overcoming corruption and the abuse of power; increasing efficiency in the public service delivery systems and overcoming bureaucracy; enhancing corporate governance and business ethics; strengthening the family institution and community; and improving the quality of life.
Dr Mohd Tap explained that there were two categories – the Open category and the Student category.
Prizes will be awarded for each of the themes for both categories.
“The contestants are expected to use their creativity to look for suitable subject matter that fits the stated themes. They can choose to focus on any theme or submit entries for all five themes contested,” he said.
The open category carries prizes of RM2,000, RM1,500 and RM1,000 for the top three winners, respectively.
In the student category, the first prize winner will receive RM1,000, while the second and third prize winners will receive RM750 and RM500 respectively.
There will be 30 cash prizes totalling RM33,750 that will be given away to winners. Participating students will also receive a certificate each.
Details and contest forms are available at the institute's website,
